Palfish - Pop-ups!

When you first start out on Palfish, 'pop ups' are key!


So what are they? and how do they work?

Firstly let's be clear, Palfish is VERY addictive, you will need to be careful when you first start out to balance your time so as your family doesn't fear you've been lost to Palfish forever! More on that another day.

One of the addictive features of Palfish is the 'Pop-ups'.

Let's be honest...

It's the thrill of the chase...

Of the unknown...

A Pop-Up is basically a notification of a last minute booking.

The first two days after you become 'official' on Palfish, you will receive A LOT of Pop-up notifications.

Then they will ease off for a while...

As long as you stay below being 80% booked you can receive a pop-up-

If you have notifications allowed (you definitely should) your phone will look like this when you are not in the app:

When you click into the app you will be presented with a pop-up lesson. This lesson may need to be taken anywhere in the next two hours OR right away!


If it's an 'Emergency sub' it will look like this:

It's bright red!

These are very hard to catch! They are normally sent out during the first two minutes of class time ... if you click the check box saying you understand and then click accept you will be thrown STRAIGHT into the classroom!

I NEVER accept these... because I am never in my classroom ready to go haha... the one time I did try to accept I ummed and ahhhed too long and someone else got it.

That's right folks, they aren't just sent to you! But any number of other teachers will get the same pop-up...

Another type of pop-up is a trial pop-up within two hours. (Stay tuned for my epic trial class post soon!)

These aren't bright red, and you usually have a bit more time to prepare.

I try to catch as MANY of these as I can.

They will only pop-up for a time you aren't already booked, your slot may not even be open. Quickly look at the time they want you to teach, think whether you are available, click the box to show you understand, and press accept.

The appointment will be added to your schedule!

If you try to cancel, it will be within two hours, so the penalties will be HARSH.

DON'T accept unless you know you can teach.

There is no penalty for rejecting them.

I ignore or reject PLENTY of pop-ups (Probably more than I take).

See above... I don't work Sundays - It's 10:04 am and i've got three pop-up notifications sitting on my phone.

I just ignore them - no stress someone else will get them!

If you accept an emergency sub you won't be penalised for being late, you also won't be penalised if you aren't in a blue top. 


People often ask how do I get more pop-ups?

and the truth is...

I don't know! Nobody does for sure...

But I DO think it's something to do with how active you are on the app! Post Moments, do LIVES.

I also seem to get more when my slots are closed.🤷

You don't get paid more for accepting a pop up but because Palfish is all about being seen you really need to grab any opportunity to teach and get your hours up!

As you build hours pop ups become things that can help you get those few extra points to reach the next level.
