Props!

Here's my top 5 topics for props you will use AGAIN and AGAIN no matter who you work for.

1) Food - Get yourself some fruit and veg, a pizza, a chicken, milk, meat and orange juice. Food is used a LOT in beginning English lessons.

2) School supplies - yep you heard right - pencil, pen, glue, scissors, book, crayon, marker - these supplies will get you through a number of lessons!

3) Animals - fish, monkey, elephant, giraffe, dog, cat. These will all give you value for money! I got the magnetic set from Melissa and Doug and it means I can use them for rewards too and stick them to my whiteboard when needed. Good investment!

4) Colours - I just got coloured paper and laminated small squares that I could hold up. Blue, pink, red, green, yellow and purple - To save time though if you buy coloured crayons (see above) you can just hold these up! Two birds, one stone!

5) Letter/Number cards - a pack of each from the dollar shop. These things come in handy ALL the time. I would even say I use these more than my magnetic letters and whiteboard as often you spend time teaching Big and Small L over blends. They also usually have matching pictures on the back which help expand the lesson.

Having said that, if i'm travelling or unorganised then a small whiteboard and marker is all you really need to explain or demonstrate most concepts. I always keep one handy.

I got myself one of THESE cheap expanding files to keep everything organised so I know exactly where to look if i'm in a hurry.  It keeps my classroom space 'somewhat' organised.

Here's some pics that might save you searching :)
Happy Teaching x
